How to check system requirements (Windows)

Use this article to help determine if a student's computer meets the minimum system requirements posted here: https://sdi.edu/admissions/how-it-all-works/#tools
Students should only use a desktop or laptop computer running the minimum required version of Windows or MacOS. Some actions in the classroom (assignment submissions, discussion posts, video uploads, etc.) use background processes native to the operating system that are not supported or available on Chromebooks, mobile phones, or tablets.
Check CPU, RAM, and Operating System:
1. Open the Start Menu and select Settings

2. Select About on the left-hand side
3. Your system information page will open:

a. Processor = CPU
b. Installed RAM = Memory
c. Edition = OS (operating system)
Check available free space:
1. Open File Explorer (the folder icon on your Start Bar)
2. Select This PC on the left-hand side of the window
3. Check for the amount of free space

Check network connection speed:
1. In your web browser, go to www.google.com
2. Search for Speed test
3. Click Run Speed Test

4. Wait for the test to finish, your results will appear here:
